Frug, Simon Samuel

Frug, Simon Samuel
(1860-1916)
   Ukrainian Yiddish poet. He was born in Kherson province. He published three volumes of Russian poetry and was the first poet to treat Jewish themes in Russian verse. Later he published Yiddish songs and ballads. In his Zionist lyrics he pleaded for a return of the Jews to productive labour in their ancestral homeland.
